I don’t read much fantasy, so I definitely need a rec for that this month. Thanks!

Does anyone have a book where the characters make cookies?

What is BIPOC? Does anyone have a recommendation for that prompt?

BIPOC = Black, Indigenous, and/or Person of Color. As for a rec, it would depend on what genre you’re looking for.

Any genre is fine, it can be contemporary, fantasy, romance, fiction, whatever genre is fine.

Okay here’s couple off the top of my head that I’ve read recently-ish:

  • The Children of Blood and Bone series by Tomi Adeyemi - Fantasy
  • There There by Tommy Orange - Contemporary Fiction
  • The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett - Historial Fiction
  • Kindred by Octavia Butler - Historical Sci-fi
  • Light it Up by Kekla Magoon - YA Fiction, Racial Justice
  • So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo - Nonfiction
  • The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson - Sci-fi

I just finished What Light by Jay Asher and they make cookies in that.

Perfect! That is already on my TBR list. Thank you!

Anything by Sarah J. Maas or Leigh Bardugo are my fantasy votes.

Some of the characters make cookies in Holidaze by Christina Lauren.

Does anyone have any other fantasy recs? Preferably YA or LGBTQ.

For LGBT fantasy, my first recs would be “Gideon the Ninth” and “Harrow the Ninth” by Tamsyn Muir and “The City We Became” by NK Jemisin. There are so many out there now, though, and these recs would definitely not be considered YA.

My finished board!

That’s a wrap, folks! I will finish one more book tonight (Shuggie Bain) which would fill the 400+ pages square, but it’s already January 1 here, so it will be my first book on the new card.
