A “trope” is something that happens in the book and can be used to further filter books. Like “enemies to lovers” explains that in the book the characters begin as enemies and slowly fall in love. “Found family” is a family that isn’t made of blood but of their personalities and traits

BINGO!

I need a recommendation for the last book you guys gave a five star :heartpulse:

Here’s my bingo card!

The last book(s) I gave five stars were The Wrath and the Dawn series by Renée Ahdieh! If this helps!

Long or short? In order of length, the last three 5 star ratings I gave are:

Helium by Rudy Francisco (poetry)
Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark (horror novella)
Just As I Am by Cicely Tyson (memoir)

Thats 4 Bingos this month!!

I read quite a few deep and thought provoking books this month. The Circle with its assessment of how we use (and abuse) social media, Just Mercy with its theme of death row inmates and how with a little mercy the world could be different, the Cost of Knowing and how it circles what its like to be a young black boy, Tattooist of Auchwitz and what it meant to be a Jew in WWII, Defending Jacob and its theme of deeply committed fatherhood even in the face of all adversity, and Simon and the Homosapiens Agena as well as the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo telling us not to be ashamed of who we truly are…it was a bit of a heavy month. But sooooo so good!

Would give 3 of them 5 stars: Just Mercy, Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, The Cost of Knowing. I
