Reading This Week (6/8)

There are no new raffles this week, however we encourage you to use this time to read books by Black authors. Visit Libro.fm and Bookshop.org for their lists of anti-racist book recommendations. In addition to those, we also recommend reading books that explore Black joy, triumph, happiness, and success. Below is a list of excerpts from Black authors available anytime on BookishFirst:

A River of Royal Blood by Amanda Joy was a 5 star read for me! I recommend checking it out.

In honor of BLM, I’ll be reading: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.:books:

Light It Up by Kekla Magoon is a good one as well that involves a senseless shooting for anyone who is interested. Forewarning, it’s a multiple POV and I know a lot of people don’t like that.

War Girls is one of my favorite 2019 reads. I recommend it all the time.

I know she isn’t a new author; however, I do love just about everything by Terry McMillian. I’d love to be in her circle of friends - they have so much fun!
