Some of my favorites in no real order:

The Hermes Protocol by Chris M. Arnone (which was a bookish first win! Adult sci-fi with some cool queer rep)

Deeplight by Frances Hardinge (YA fantasy with some cool Deaf rep)

Fenris & Mott by Greg Van Eekhout (MG magical realism, picked it up because the main character and I share the same name and I’ve never seen it elsewhere)

An Immense World by Ed Yong (Nonfiction, has tons of cool information about different animals and their unique senses)

What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang (YA dystopia/kinda fantasy, I think the concept is unique and I loved the whole series)

I’ve read 46 books that were 5/5 so far this year, if you want a specific suggestion please feel free to ask! I have a lot to choose from.

My faves are heavy on romance this year, with a little fantasy, a little sci-fi, and some mystery, which matches my overall reading for the year. (I just got my library hold of Bookshops and Bonedust so that isn’t here, but it might be in a few days!)

In no particular order:

Something Wild and Wonderful by Anita Kelly
Godkiller by Hannah Kaner
System Collapse by Martha Wells
The Bell in the Fog by Lev AC Rosen
We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian
10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall
Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn
